Για να προωθήσει το τραγούδι, δημιουργήθηκε ένα μουσικό βίντεο και η Καλομοίρα εμφανίστηκε σε μια διαφημιστική περιοδεία πριν από την εμφάνιση της Eurovision, έχοντας επισκεφθεί το Αζερμπαϊτζάν, τη Ρουμανία και τη Σερβία. Η πράξη χρηματοδοτήθηκε από τη J.Lo από την Jennifer Lopez, η οποία ετοιμαζόταν να ξεκινήσει τη γραμμή ένδυσης στην Ευρώπη. Η ενδυμασία της Καλομοίρας για τις βραδιές του διαγωνισμού και το μουσικό βίντεο παρέχεται αποκλειστικά από τη μάρκα. Η κριτική απάντηση ήταν θετική, με το τραγούδι να περιγράφεται ως “μολυσματικά πιασάρικο” από τον Τόνι Νεοφύτου του Ελληνικού Ραδιοφώνου του Λονδίνου και τη σουηδική εφημερίδα Aftonbladet γράφοντας ότι θυμίζει την Έλενα Παπαρίζου, που είχε προηγουμένως κερδίσει το διαγωνισμό για την Ελλάδα.
Το “Secret Combination” γνώρισε εμπορική επιτυχία, φτάνοντας στο νούμερο ένα στην Ελλάδα και μπαίνοντας στα charts στο Βέλγιο, τη Δανία, τη Φινλανδία, τη Σουηδία, την Ιρλανδία και το Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο.
Το “Secret Combination” συντέθηκε από τον Κωνσταντίνο Παντζή με στίχους του Ποσειδώνα Γιαννόπουλου. Ο Γιαννόπουλος είχε προηγουμένως γράψει τους στίχους για το “Comme ci, comme ça”, που εκπροσώπησε την Κύπρο στο Διαγωνισμό Τραγουδιού της Eurovision 2007, ενώ ο Παντζής είχε συνεργαστεί με την Καλομοίρα στα δύο προηγούμενα άλμπουμ της.
Σε συνέντευξή του στο ESCToday, ο Παντζής περιέγραψε το “Secret Combination” ως τραγούδι R&B με στιλ “αμερικανικής παραγωγής”. Πρόσθεσε ότι ενσωματώνει επίσης ελληνικούς και μεσογειακούς ήχους, όπως το Τουμπερλέκι.
Ηχογραφήθηκε στο Prisma Studio, το μιξ έγινε στο τελευταίο στούντιο και στο C&C Studio, στην Αθήνα, και έγινε master από τον Leon Zervos στο Sterling Sound Studios, στη Νέα Υόρκη.
Το τραγούδι κυκλοφόρησε επίσημα στα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης από την ΕΡΤ σε συνέντευξη Τύπου που πραγματοποιήθηκε στο ξενοδοχείο Hilton Αθηνών στις 6 Φεβρουαρίου 2008. Η συνέντευξη τύπου χρησίμευσε ως πρόδρομος του τριμελούς εθνικού τελικού για την επιλογή της ελληνικής συμμετοχής για το διαγωνισμό τραγουδιού Eurovision 2008.
Στον εθνικό τελικό, που πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 27 Φεβρουαρίου, το τραγούδι αγωνίστηκε με άλλα δύο τραγούδια για την ελληνική εκπροσώπηση.
Κυκλοφόρησε ως ψηφιακή λήψη στις 26 Φεβρουαρίου 2008 και ως EP με remixs την 1η Απριλίου 2008.
Η Καλομοίρα είχε δηλώσει ότι σχεδίαζε να ηχογραφήσει μια ελληνική έκδοση του “Secret Combination” μετά το διαγωνισμό, αν και δεν υλοποιήθηκε. Το τραγούδι χρησίμευσε ως το πρώτο και μοναδικό single της Καλομοίρας από το Secret Combination: The Album.
